What can Aromatherapy oil do for stress relief?
Nice smelling, mood uplifting, calming, are a few of the claims that aromatherapy oil has. I'm sure you might have tried aromatherapy as a form of easy fuss free stress relieve method.
The use of essential oils in the United States was introduced by Robert Tisserand in 1977. The aromatherapy industry has grown to be a billion dollar one, and many people are sceptical of its healing claims.
How does it work?
My first introduction to aromatherapy is the heavenly scent that attracted me as I was passing by a skin care boutique back home. Out of curiosity, I signed up for an intro course to aromatherapy.
The presenter explained that flowers and fruits are compressed and have their oil extracted using a complex method that produces the 'essence' in the form of a concentrated oil.
Apparently, it is not the scent that affects the user, the potent power of aromatherapy oil comes from each oil's unique molecular structure, and it is at a 'molecular level' that the oil is able to work its wonder.
Wow, deep stuff.
Aromatherapy for stress relief
I have been an aromatherapy user for years now, and all I know is that it works. I have used it as a pick-me-up when I need that extra energy to work extra hours, I have also used it to help me enjoy a better night's sleep when I find dificulty in falling asleep.
Maybe it is the scent that has an effect on our brain, maybe not, but I know that it works well in a lot of areas, including skin care.
The most common ways of using aromatherapy is to relief stress. As you light up the aromatherapy oil, the heavenly scent's assault on your senses really does produce that relaxed feeling. My favourite oil is Lavender, which I use when I need to relax. Pine & tea tree oil is used to purify the air. Ylang Ylang and sandalwood lets you get into the mood for romance. Orange and lemon oil is used as a perk-me-up!
The most common way of using aromatherapy oil is to add it into an aromatherapy burner and let the oil slowly diffuse into the air. Aromatherapy oil can be added into a massage oil base, to be massaged into the skin. You could also add aromatherapy oil into your bath for a good soak.

Buyer beware!
Please beware when shopping for your aromatherapy oil. Since its popularity has caught on, many unscrupulous merchants have jumped on the bandwagon and offered inferior grade oils to the market. Buy only the purest therapeutic grade aromatherapy essential oils.
Two good companies I can recommend are Jurlique and
Mountain Rose Herbs
. I have used the aromatherapy oils from both companies and have found their quality far more superior than other brands on the market. I am also using Jurlique's aromatherapy skin care products, with good results, for stress, I would recommend
Jurlique Lavender Body Aromatherapy Oil.
