Work Related Stress - The Causes

The expression 'work stress' has a double connotation. On the one hand, it merely refers to stress experienced while on the job, more often than not because of some characteristic of it. On the other hand, it can indicate that stress is operating on you, and typically in ways that are tremendously unlikable.

Work Related Stress CausesThese two connotations are not entirely dissimilar. When you undergo work related stress, the consequences are damaging to your physical wellbeing and your mental health. As with any dilemma, it helps to consider its basic reasons to bring about a long-term resolution.

There are a hundred direct potential causes for job related stress. Workers and supervisors alike are frequently given impractical time limits to reach near-impossible objectives. Aggressive fast-paced production can be amusing, but when they don't reach suitable industry ends (improve deals, optimize workflow, augment interaction) they are by and large disliked.

Add to that the all-too-familiar irrational supervisor or perverse colleague. In businesses of any size, there are all too often individuals in command who are rude and inadequately trained to guide others. They are in general more concerned about impressing their boss than improving output and completing tasks.

Those two issues - misdirected ambitions and unjust supervisors - clarify the reply that most individuals give when questioned why they experience work related stress: a lack of direction over their lives.

Women in the office who are also mothers who know very well how to manage time, multi-task numerous demands and innovate new solutions. They exercise those talents daily at home. They also understand a bit more than most about how to resolve quarrels among people, all of whom may be partially in the wrong and partially in the right.

Men too, have sufficient skill in prioritizing costs, reacting to grievances and coming to a decision of when to push and when to negotiate. They exercise these skills at home daily as well.

But the workplace often neglects to provide the independence needed to exploit one's cognitive skills and the authority to endorse a practical solution. More often, objectives come from above and little discussion is permitted. People working in such environments follow responsibilities without influence - which is an assurance for work stress.

The one most-often quoted cause for work related stress is demand devoid of the resources to meet them. When a person is positioned in the conflict between "I must" and "I can't", work stress is the expected consequence.

Luckily, some associations are starting to appreciate this and are taking steps to change. With a bit of good fortune on your side, one might hire you.
