Discover the REAL secret to Personal goal setting only one in a hundred knows!

NO, it is not about techniques (those are a dime a dozen)

Personal goal setting is simply you setting your guiding system to achieve the goals or results that you want.

As simple as this may sound, how many of you do set goals for yourself? Ok, so you may have set goals at some point of your life, but the BIG QUESTION is: Have you achieved your goals?

I'll leave you to brood over that for a while...

For those of you who have not set any goals or maybe don't think there is a need for personal goal setting; ponder over these questions:

* Have you seen a car with no driver behind the wheels?
* Have you seen a boat without a captain?
* Have you embarked on an activity without knowing what you want to achieve?

I think you get my point. You need DIRECTION, without which you will not reach your intended destination.

Similarly in life, to be successful, we need to plan and set goals for ourselves. As the saying goes "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail". This is where personal goal setting comes into the picture.

I'm not going into the methods and mechanics of personal goal setting. Just do a search on Google and I'm sure there will be lots information regarding the methods of personal goal planning.

What I found to be the most perplexing part of goal setting is that even if we have set goals, we are often shortchanging ourselves on following through and getting the results that we want.

Listen. It is not your fault that you have failed to keep up with your goals. At the very least, you are only partly to be blamed.

With today's busy lifestyle, there will always be distractions in the form of task that needs your attention. Daily activities like, telephone calls, emails, bill payment, housework, etc. all need your attention. There's nothing wrong about any of these.

The only problem is when they demanded so much of your attention and time that you may not have much time left for your goals or your attention may have been diverted to these chores that you have clean forgotten about your goals.

Sounds familiar?

What you need is a guiding system and some discipline.

An effective guiding system is to have some form of feedback mechanism that you must spend some time and effort to review, which has the effect of keeping you on track and help you achieve your goals in the process.

Feedback could be in the form of a simple spreadsheet, a note book, or a software to keep you on track. However, all the tools in the world is not going to help you much if you do not put effort into reviewing your goals. You need to exert Some Effort. No I'm not going to tell you that this is easy, if it were that easy, why are there more people who are unable to keep up with their goals than those who are able to?

An excellent software for keeping track of your goals is GoalPro, it lets you easily set your main (primary) goals, and then you are required to set smaller (secondary) goals to support them. There is an excellent report function that lets you print out your progress (this is where you can use it on a consistent basis to keep track of your goals).

Go on start planning now and do some serious personal goal setting. Dare to do something worthy, I'll leave you with this quote "It is crazy to keep doing the same thing and wonder why you are not getting different results!
