Power of Positive Thinking -

Discover why you have more in common with a schizophrenic than you think, and how knowing this can put you on the path to success, happiness and all things you desire in life!

What is the power of positive thinking? It is the act of training your mind to think of positive instead of negatives. Many would scoff at the idea of the power of positive thinking. Well, I wouldn't be surprised if you are one of them.

You probably have read about it and all that was said was 'do not dwell on the negative, think positive and you will achieve anything you desire'.

This is being simplistic. No wonder most people doubt whether it works or not.

Listen. I know that it works!

Let me elaborate.

Half full or half empty?

Are you someone who sees a glass of water as half full, or half empty?

Your answer would determine your state of mind, the conditioning build upon your lifetime of experience, which has taught you to form certain beliefs and certain ways of looking at things.

The power of positive thinking will help you correct that tendency of your mind to perceive things negatively.

For the power of positive thinking to work, we have to address a few important areas first.

Remember I mentioned negative thinking due to conditioning over your lifetime of experience?

Well, first we must get rid of negative thinking.

It is not an easy task and will take a bit of time, but with perseverance you will ultimately triumph over it, and that will be a breakthrough, a turning point that will change the course of your life.

Are you schizophrenic?

Do you find yourself engaging in self talk, or 'hearing voices' like a schizophrenic does?

That is the voice or feeling you get in response to situations.

E.g. You hate driving.

One day your spouse, who has been the one driving you to places will be away for a business trip.

He says 'honey you will have to drive yourself to work for the rest of the week until I'm back'.

Now your thoughts might be 'oh I hate it, the peak hour traffic, the stress of filtering between lanes, people following too close to me, road bully flashing their headlights at me for being too slow....'

Now watch those thoughts, as they seem to gush out like a river breaking through a dam. Now those are self thoughts, and negative ones too.

Listen. You cannot forcefully tell yourself to stop thinking like that. Your mind does not work like that.

A story of the yellow elephant

Remember my 'yellow elephant story'? When you tell your mind to 'stop thinking of negative thoughts', your mind will instead accelerate those negative thoughts like nothing is gonna stop it.

All you have to do is - Step back and observe those thoughts without attaching any meaning or feelings to it.

Let the thoughts run its natural course. As long as you do not attach any emotion to your negative thoughts, they will slowly fade off.

Immediately replace your thoughts with a positive statement. Eg. 'I enjoy a relaxing and smooth ride from home to my office.'

To help you gain better control of your thoughts, you should try Meditation to still your mind.

Next, replace those negative thoughts with positives, using Positive Affirmations.

Finally, use the power of Creative Visualization to really seal the deal and harness the power of positive thinking, and you are on your way to become a positive thinker where nothing is impossible for you to accomplish.

Constant exposure to inspiring stuff is also one way of experiencing the power of positive thinking. If done consistently, this will modify your behavior over time too.

One of the most prolific inspirational speaker that has influenced me a lot is the great Jim Rohn.

You could get weekly inspirational messages through his newletter which is packed with positivly inspiring messages and be informed of any offers they have. Head on over to Jim Rohn's website for more on power of positive thinking .

If you are keen to explore more, I would recommend an excellent audio based on the classic book by Robert Anthony called Beyond Positive Thinking.
